HTML GuidesHTML Guides

The guides are split into various units, each containing several individual pages. You can start at the beginning and work your way through, or just jump to whatever you need to know.

Links to all the pages in the current chapter are on the top and bottom right hand sides of the screen, so you can cycle through all the pages in turn. Any demonstrations will open in separate windows to help you keep your place.

Enough introductions - on with the guides!

The Basics

For those of you that have never tried HTML before - these guides will explain how the language works, and get you up and running on the basic workings of a simple page including formatting techniques.

Links

Links are everywhere on the web, so you'll need to know how to create them. Learn how to link within your site, to specific points on a page and to separate sites altogether - easy when you know how!

Images

Text can only do so much - just a few images can transform a dull page into an exciting internet experience - well, almost. Get the lowdown here...

Tables

You'd be surprised how much you use tables in HTML - not only for setting out data, but to layout your pages as well. Get your head around what can be a very confusing topic...

Lists

Lists are very easy, they hardly need a section to themselves. It's just that they don't really fit in anywhere else - nice and easy to master though.

Frames

Frames let you split your page into two or more separate documents, which maes site managment much simpler. Use them wisely and you (and your visitors) won't know how you lived without them!

Forms

Get interactive! Forms let your site visitors send information back to you via the web. This is primarily used for mailforms (to e-mail you comments on your site) although you can use forms for loads of things.

Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

CSS is a brilliant system that allows you to control the look of your site from a single file, making redesigns simple. You can also produce some rather clever effects to jazz up your pages.
